20 Words I Don’t Like

Posted on the 30 August 2013 by Nasehamushtaq

There are some words in English which I don’t like at all although I use them in writing but I would prefer other words than those any time. It’s mainly because I’ve used them so frequently since childhood that they’ve lost their charm and meaning. Or maybe because of the fact that other people have used them in such ways that they sound meaningless, for example: commenting “awesome and prettttyyyy” on somebody’s picture on facebook which is the complete opposite.

I believe that words should be used at proper places with they’re required without deteriorating their meaning and worth. Many factors have spoiled some of the words for me and those WORDS are :

1. good

2. bad

3. pretty

4. awesome

5. nice

6. cool

7. hot

8. exactly

9. sorry

10. no problem

11. it’s okay

12. like (when it is used in expressions such as “It’s like…”, “I/she/he was like…”, “We were like…” Ugh! somebody, please get me the barf bag!)

13. amazing

14. sweet (People used to call me “sweet”. When I discovered that I wasn’t and other people who were termed the same but were not actually so, this word made its way into this list. :D )

15. sexy (Every other person is addressed with this word ESPECIALLY on facebook photo comments that I’ve begun to doubt whether people really know the meaning or do they just use it as a synonym of “good”, “okay” or “nice”. )

16: tacky (an old colleague of mine thinks this word means “fashionable” and “stylish”. And she refers to her dressing as tacky. Umm. Okay. I’ll stop right there.)

17. Whattaaayyy surprise! (This expression “whattaaay”. Why, people, why?)

18. congrats! (I like Congratulations better. Would it kill people to use full words instead of short forms?)

19. Damn

20. friends
