2012: a Year in Review

Posted on the 29 December 2012 by Kcsaling009 @kcsaling

Aloha

I know everyone else is amazed that we’re already standing in the doorway, looking through to 2013, but it has just been such an incredible year! If I cut it back to just the highlights reel, here’s what I’ve got:

  • January: started blogging {as you bloggers know, it’s a big step!}, got our engagement photos done, shared a few recipes, and probably talked way too much about my wedding planning :)
  • February: took a break from wedding planning and cooking {a small break} to take my cadets on a tour of Disney’s industrial engineering department {great for them – and gave me an idea of what I really want to do in life-after-Army}, and took a pause as Dad gave us a heart-attack scare :(
  • March: between mini-adventures and enjoying spring in New York, we had our Disney wedding planning session
  • April: made the most of our budget friendly New York stay-cations and started prepping for our move
  • May: wrapped up the last of our wedding planning and kept on with the move
  • June: survived three weeks in the woods training cadets to be soldiers {and didn’t get devoured by ants!}, successfully moved us into our new house, and, oh yeah, GOT MARRIED :)
  • July: one amazing Caribbean honeymoon, a few house projects, and a look back at all the wedding planning we did!
  • August: expanded my adventurous hobbies with a brand new motorcycle
  • September: hosted family and friends for football and fun, celebrated another step farther into my 30′s {!!} and Feast or Fashion week in New York, and took Mom and Dad to Disneyland for their 40th wedding anniversary!
  • October: we survived a hurricane and enjoyed the harvest
  • November: we traveled to California for Thanksgiving with my folks and rallied the vote
  • December: we’re wrapping up the year in Florida, celebrated our engagementversary, I did a conference presentation in San Francisco, and found out we’d be moving back to the land of aloha in the summer of next year

All in all, even though it’s been a very wedding-centric year, it’s been a rich, full year where the hubby and I spent lots of time with family and friends and getting to be a better family ourselves. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through our wedding process and learning to live our happy ever after! I can’t wait to see what adventures 2013 brings us!

Happy New Year!

:) KCS
