319: Top 10 Favourite Quotes (Where I get personal)
Although, I do have quite a few.
You know that Sticky Note tool some people use, like, on their desktop/laptop-to remember important things?
I love it! I use it quite a bit, actually, to remember things, to keep track of Blog topics I want to do, and most importantly-when I see a quote that I absolutely adore-I paste it there!
Now, it's getting to the point where it takes about a minute for my sticky notes to load because there are so many;what I'm trying to say i that this post will be a win-win scenario, you get to hear some pearls of wisdom, and I get to de-clutter and reminisce some thought provoking quotes.
Let's get started, shall we?
1. "You've got the Makings of Greatness in you"- Treasure Planet
This is rather cheesy, and from a Disney/Dreamworks movie-but It's an incredible piece of encouragement-also in this part of the movie, this same character says, "you'll rattle the stars, you will" and man-if I do anything with my life, I want it to be that.
2."Courage is found in unlikely places"-The Fellowship of The Ring
This must be one of the most overused quotes, and I treasure it deeply. Anytime I've felt afraid, I've always surprised myself, in one strange moment, with some little word of encouragement, or bravery-and then everything is okay.
3. "Sometimes things fall apart, so better things can fall together" Marilyn Monroe
I love this, especially because it seems like (in High school) everything that can go wrong, does. Sayings like this always remind me that, yeah-stuff happens-the bigger question is, what are you going to do about it?
4. "The rise of women, however long overdue, does not require the fall of man"-Author Unknown to myself
If you've read a wee bit in between the lines here, I am a Feminist. And I am even more outspoken about not being a femi-nazi, and how it's important to be respected, treated and recognized as equal. Equal. Not better than.
5.“Do not chase people. Be you and do your own thing and work hard. The right people who belong in your life will come to you, and stay.”--Wu Tang Clan
I struggle with this, personally. I go through intense bouts of loneliness and I think some really pathetic thoughts-I also have to be careful about wanting to text all those people I'm moping about missing. It's hard, and a lot of the time uncomfortable-but this quote gives me that flash of insight, reminding me-that's the point...it only goes up from here.
6.“you all have a little bit of ‘I want to save the world’ in you, that’s why you’re here, in college. I want you to know that it’s okay if you only save one person, and it’s okay if that person is you”-Someone on Tumblr's Anthro Professor
This is monumental! I'm such a big fan of Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Pirates in general etc. They're always being awesome, saving people, rescuing someone in distress-I so want that! But, like I said before, I also struggle-it happens. There are things beyond my control, and things that aren't that I just really stink at-all those things are important, and they make me who I am-the hardest thing is making sure I don't give up.
7. "Be somebody who makes everyone feel like somebody"-Author Unknown to myself
I honestly adore all of these quotes! But this one resonates with my personal view of who I am, as a person. Sometimes I can really be a bully, to myself. I get frustrated whenever I'm uncomfortable-or am doing something that everyone else isn't doing-or at least I think they're not doing. It's incredibly important to me that I reach out, and ask people if they need help. I don't want to look back on my life and say I walked right by-sometimes I fail at even this, but I'm trying to do better.
8.“Confidence isn’t walking into a room with your nose in the air, and thinking you are better than everyone else, it’s walking into a room and not having to compare yourself to anyone else in the first place.”
I struggle with confidence, and I think a lot of other people do as well. It can be hard-especially if you're used to looking at people, and if you compare a lot of the time. I think confidence doesn't come naturally, it takes work. Especially if you have low self-esteem, then it really takes work. But I hear that it's worth it, and we can always work at this together.
9."happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the lights." -Harry Potter book somewhere
J.K. Rowling is one incredible woman-so full of wisdom. I love re-reading the Harry Potter series, because as I get older, and can relate to different scenarios like: Harry's depression, Hermione's need for perfection, Ron's jealousy...the list goes on and on. As I find myself more able to relate to these characters, in new and different ways, I also find myself able to cope. Finding someone that is going through the same struggles is by far the greatest step towards recovery.
10. "Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the trouble makers, the round heads in the square holes, the ones who see things differently, they are not fond of the rules and they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can't do is ignore them.
Because they change things, they push the human race forward and while some may see them as the crazy ones.
I see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world,
Are the ones who do."-Author Unknown to myself
I think this quote just about says it all.
