5G Interoperability Development Testing Sets New Goals

Huawei joins hands with Intel to start 5G Interoperability Development Testing (IODT) on the basis of New Radio (NR). The partnership launches the 3GPP 5G IODT. The aim is to verify 5G technologies and degree of maturity. In fact, this collaboration itself indicates that the industry is maturing at a rapid pace. This, in turn, will help them prepare for the upcoming commercial deployment of 5G from end to end under unified 5G standards. Huawei, Intel, and their telecom operator partners had an announcement in this regard during the global 5G testing summit at 2017 MWC in February this year. The joint consortium plans to drive globally unified 5G standards through 5G testing. In addition, the collaboration aims to form a unified 5G industry chain from chips, terminals, to network infrastructure and test equipment.

All in all, this is an effort to create a global 5G ecosystem. This will automatically optimize bonding among telecom operators, vertical industry partners, and equipment manufacturers. As a matter of fact, commencement of 5G Interoperability Development Testing by Huawei and Intel is the best option to achieve this goal. Both, Huawei’s 5G base station prototype and Intel’s 3rd Generation 5G Mobile Trial Platform (MTP) play a major role in this journey. In fact, both companies will be jointly verifying the performance of key 5G NR technologies. This will also have a focus on Sub-6GHz including C-Band, mmWave, and mobility. In fact, the companies will perform testing in real mobile, over the air environments. And this will happen on Huawei’s infrastructure and Intel’s terminal platform.

5G Interoperability Development Testing Touches a New Horizon

This will be, in fact, world’s first converged 5G spectrum. C-Band will take care of basic coverage and bandwidth for 5G. In addition, C-Band will be one of the world’s first commercial 5G frequency band. The vetting of all these features by Huawei and Intel will ascertain the further course of action for the industry. Basically, the things are moving fastly in the right direction to unify 5G standards. As a matter of fact, China will be among the first countries to adopt 5G networks. Huawei and Intel will work together to speed-up the era of 5G with the help of 5G interoperability development testing.
