Creating the perfect guest room will make your guests feel relaxed, comfortable and allow them to feel more 'at home'. As an interiors lover, I am always thinking about decor, be it the bigger things like wall paint color and flooring or the smaller things like the accessories and other little touches. Today I want to share 10 things that you can do to help you to create the perfect guest room in your home.
1. Wifi password print and frame
I absolutely love the idea of adding one of these wifi password prints in a frame to a guest room, not only to impress the guests but for practical reasons too. You can actually get this one above as a free printable from chicfetti.com/.
2. A lick of fresh paint
Personally I think you can't go wrong with off-white/cream or neutrals when it comes to the wall color in a bedroom. Not only is a nice off-white nice and bright and neutral but it'll also help the room feel slightly bigger too. Darker colours can sometimes make a room feel like it's coming in on itself which will ultimately make it feel smaller. (Another good trick for making rooms feel bigger is to use mirrors). 3. Invest in a good mattress and duvet cover set
A nice duvet cover set and a great mattress will be such a good investment, especially if you find you have quite a few guests stay over throughout the year. Add storage space / dedicated space for your guests travel bag/s
Your guest is likely to have a large bag with them with all of their items in so try and remember to make space for a dedicated area where they can store their bag or their things. Perhaps ensure you point them towards some empty drawers or spare wardrobe space in their room?4. Leave fresh towels in the room
Make your guest feel at home and provide them with fresh dedicated towels in their room for after their bath/shower so that they don't have to ask you for some or pack their own before they come and visit.5. Phone charger and cord
One thing that can easily be forgotten when packing is a phone charger and cord. If you have a spare charger laying about then consider adding it to your guest room, your guest will thank you for it and even if they've brought their own it means they wont need to get it out, plug it in and risk leaving it behind when they go.6. Cosy lighting
There's no better way to make your guests feel relaxed in their room then by adding in some cosy lighting. Cosy bedside lamps can be purchased from places like IKEA really inexpensively and can transform a room in the evening.7. Interesting books and magazines
To give your guests that something extra you could also add some interesting books or magazines to the room by placing them on the bedside table or dressing table if you have one in there. You can find some really nice baskets like the above to store them in too.8. Plants/flowers
Adding a plant or some flowers (even artificial if you wanted to) will make for a great little inexpensive touch for your guest room. It will also help brighten the room and add color.9. Travel shampoo / toothbrush / cotton pads
If you want to go the extra mile for your guests then you could add some essential toiletries to the room before they arrive. Things like travel-sized shampoo, a disposable toothbrush and cotton pads would probably make your guest feel really special.
