A Little Bit of This, and a Little Bit of That and a Whole Lotta LOVE

Posted on the 15 December 2013 by Mummyflyingsolo @mummyflyingsolo

When I was composing this post in my head yesterday I had a big excited bragfest going on (and ahem, YES I “compose”). I was going to tell you aaaaall about how out of the 7 possible days to exercise this week I actually nailed the full 7 AND that I did my first 25 min straight run today.

But oh how things change ever so quickly.

I didn’t actually manage to achieve either of those things I was going to be bragging about. Christmas shopping and working slashed the Saturday exercise opportunity and my mind screwed with the run today.

But WAIT.

So what?

still exercised 6 out of 7 days this week. That’s pretty freaking awesome. It went like this in case you are interested: RUN, GYM, RUN, RUN, YOGA, OFF, RUN.

Sweet as.

So I’m not sure why I see this as a failure. We are SO hard on ourselves sometimes, aren’t we? Why don’t we agree not to do that. You, me and whoever else is in the room right now. Why don’t we just agree that for this week we give going easy on ourselves a try. Are you in? I’m in. God only knows, at this time of year when everything is pretty cray cray I think we need to just breathe and let it all give a little.

So the 25 min run. I know you are dying to know what happened here. What happened was my head. Nothing more, nothing less. It just decided I couldn’t do it. It damn well QUIT on me. I put it off as long as I could and that was the 19 min mark.

The whole situation wasn’t helped by the fact that I was quite sluggish getting out the door this morning. My feet didn’t hit the pavement until 9:30am and folks, it is summer here and we are getting some really warm days. Like beach days. And it’s a beach day weather by 9:30am.

Anyway, tomorrow is another day and I will get to try that run again. Now that I’ve finally let myself graduate to Week 7 of the Couch to 5k Program my days of interval running are over. It’s all long stretches and working on running for longer while building speed. I’m excited. I actually prefer the longer runs but more on that another day.

ALSO, I wanted to show you all my Christmas tree!  Remember I bought the white one? Well I was trying to make it look like this one on the right.

A little bit of this, and a little bit of that and a whole lotta LOVEThe end resultA little bit of this, and a little bit of that and a whole lotta LOVEWhat I was trying to achieve

…and here is what it turned out like

The one on the left is what we ended up with. It may not look as clean and professional as that other tree but hey, it’s in my house and my kid helped me do it and it is literally covered in Christmas LOVE. So I’m happy with our tree. It’s a top result and we’ll have another crack at streamlining next year.

Now that’s the little bit of this and the little bit of that done. Which brings us to the whoooooole lotta LOVE part. I’d love to somehow cleverly weave in the Led Zepplin song here but I’m not that clever today so it’s not going to happen. In fact, it’s totally unrelated. That sentence there, that was my weave. I know, it blows. Moving on…

The whooooole lotta love is for YOU guys. All those people who come by and read my posts and especially those of you who took the time to leave some amazing comments on my last post. That experience for me, that accident, was completely life changing and I have never ever been able to write about it before. It’s like the words have been stuck inside me. So finally, I wrote something. And you awesome folks came by and showed me the love. So I’m just simply giving it all right back. My son calls it sharing. I’m sharing the love.

Thanks for stopping by.

PS Yay for bonus posts! Don’t you just love it.

*********************

I post Tuesdays and Thursdays (except for when I’m feeling inspired and then you get a bonus post like today) so please, grab a wine, pull up a chair and lock it in each week.

Also, thank you so much to the mamas who have sent me their baby bonding stories so far. I’d still love a few more to round out the posts I’ll be writing. I think it may actually be a bit of a series now. We are looking at a January release so still some time to throw your hat in if you have a story to tell. You can see more about this idea here.
