Adventures with Hershey

Posted on the 04 December 2011 by Chelseajmartin

This spring our family got a new puppy, just what we needed was more animals but how can you say no?, Hershey. Hershey is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, commonly confused with Chocolate Labrador even though they look ONLY vaguely similar. Hershey has a few behavior problems at home but does AMAZING out in public.

Adventures with Hershey

I thought it would be a great experience for Hershey if he could come to the Christkindlmarkt in Frankenmuth, Michigan while I watched over Farmbrook Designs’ booth (click the link to check out some awesome market pics) in the market tent. So away we went at about 9 am. I picked up a couple pigs ears to entertain him for the drive back and forth from the market and he chewed happily while we traveled.

Now, if a dog was going to get full of himself, attending a market just might do it.  All day long he sat and laid patiently next to me while we answered customer questions and wrote up sales. EVERYONE loved Hershey, told him how beautiful he was, and doted on his every move. He even rolled over and showed a few of his favorite guests his belly.

He got spoiled with Ka-Chomp dog meat-treats and dog biscuits, from the owners of Ka-Pow soap in Frankenmuth, given to him but customers and the owners of Ka-Chomp. He got to lick the faces of little kids, take a nap in the car, and generally be a great people dog. For being a dog about 9 months old, I couldn’t have asked him to act any better!

Good job Hershey, here’s to many more adventures!
