Almost Fine Dining – Singapore Seafood Republic

Posted on the 12 February 2014 by Rin @rinkun1691

Just last Saturday, for a little farewell family dinner for our dear little sister who will be heading back to Aussie for her studies next week, we headed over to Singapore Seafood Republic at Sentosa.

Honestly, the food was mouth watering, finger licking delicious. Being on a weekend and them being a famous restaurant, the whole place was fully reserved for dinner and we were given a table outdoors. Yes, it’s Asian style seafood alfresco dining!

One of the servers approached us to offer us this limited only drink. Yes, i really mean it when i say its limited. They only serve about 9 cups a day and its not every day that they serve it either. For just $6.90 you get this freshly squeezed and put together slushy, which consists of pineapple, guava, sour sop and some other healthy stuffs which i failed to catch as she was explaining to us.

i know it looks green and almost yucky, but as promised, it doesnt taste green at all. In fact, it was so yummy it was almost the highlight of the day! Really refreshing drink for the heat of the relentless summer.

Here comes the rest of the dishes!

There is fried rice and for fun. Yes. Very Chinese indeed. Of course one can’t forget to take their daily portion of green veges! The crispy golden enoki was a good change from the usual way i eat it, which was just boiling the fungi in water.

Finally we hit the main course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Black Pepper Crab!!!!!!! Even though it was a tad bit spicy, even for me, it was a great munch! The crabs were sold by weight (as per the usual custom), at $60.00 per kg. The crab was shared among 5 of us, and it was just right. Not too filling and nothing left over.

And, the must have if you ever come to Singapore. Chili Crab!!! The gravy tastes best with the fried buns, known as man tou. It was surprisingly not as spicy as the black pepper one, and as all chili crabs here, it has this slightly sweet taste to it. Yummilicious! I’m practically drooling over here as i’m typing out this post!

One of the good services that this place provides? A bib. Yes. A bib. So that any gravy or sauce or what-so-ever doesn’t land onto your pretty clothes!

All in all i must say it was a good dinner. Everyone left the place extremely satisfied! Will definitely want to dine there again in the future!

Before i leave you guys, a little omake shot. (Ps. Omake is Japanese for extra or special)
