Answers to Your FAQs, Part I

Posted on the 12 July 2012 by Brittany_tyd @Brittany_TYD
Back in April I participated in the A-to-Z Challenge. It is a blogging challenge held every April, to blog your way through the alphabet. It was a lot of fun and showed me how blogging intentionally made a huge difference around TYD.
On the second to last day, I asked for Your Questions. And then took a long time to answer them. So here are a few answers, and Part II will come later :).
Meghan from They Call Her Meghan asked:
What's your favorite song? Right now, I can't get enough of Sidewalk Prophets' Words I Would Say.
Right now my favorite song is Carrie Underwood's Blown Away. I recently bought her CD and I cannot get enough of it, even though her first single "Good Girl" is not my favorite. My all-time favorite song is Journey, Don't Stop Believing.
Would you rather have a bullet taken for you or take a bullet for someone else?
I would much rather take a bullet for someone else. Maybe it's a selfish choice, but I would hate to know someone else gave their life for me. That feels like a lot of responsibility. Plus, that person would probably be someone I love, and I wouldn't want to live without them.
If you weren't an attorney, what would you be?
That's a good question. I think about it sometimes. I always wanted to be an attorney, but once you start on that path there is no going back. The two other careers I seriously considered were Journalist and Social Worker.
The main appeal of my undergraduate school, aside from a substantial scholarship, was their highly respected journalism program. But I got there, took Criminal Justice 101, and was hooked. The closest I ever got to a journalism class was International Environmental Law, that was held in the journalism building, which is when I also discovered that the journalism students had an awesome study room, and I started crashing it. ;)
Stephanie at Just a Little Bit Louder asked:
what was the biggest obstacle you've ever overcome?
I think most people thing the answer to this question is my childhood. I had a pretty rough one, that would probably take an entire month in and of itself to explain. However, I never felt like I had a choice in that. It was survive, or don't survive. Plus, at the time I didn't know my life was different than anyone else's. So it probably doesn't count.
In my adult life, my biggest obstacle so far has been my struggle with anxiety. I've struggled with it most of my life, without knowing what it was called. But the actual panic attacks came during/shortly after law school, and then when I moved to Big City last year. It seems to be OK now, after a couple years of counseling and a year on anti-anxiety meds.
I carry fast-acting pills with me everywhere I go, but rarely need to take one. I think just having them with me has a placebo affect, just to know I won't have to endure the embarrassing moment of being stricken by panic in a public place (or on a plane - which was definitely the worst and scariest).

I'd love to answer any other questions you have! Feel free to ask them in the comments below, or share your thoughts on anything I said here.
