Dear Same U,
What is the big deal/fascination with this new dance called twerking? Isn't it just girls shaking their butts around? Girls have always done this.
---Booty Through the Years

 Hello Booty Through the Years,
I couldn't agree with you more. On the surface it does appear that twerking is merely girls just shaking their butts around. However, there is a difference from just shaking the butt to twerking.
Twerking, although not an actual word as far as Webster dictionary is concern, happens when one shakes their butt in isolated movements to the point where the butt appears to be shaking by itself.... Or at least that's what we're going to define twerking as. The movements can be fast or slow, but ultimately the movements give the appearance of the butt moving independent from the rest of the body. Other forms of butt shaking usually does not isolate the shaking to just the butt moving only.
As far the the "big deal" or fascination with it, well it's pretty impressive if you know how to do it right. It's a great workout for the person doing it; and at the end of the day, it's very sexy. Although twerking has been around for quite some time, it's twerking season now and it doesn't seem like it will go anywhere any time soon.
For those who still do not know what twerking is, or never saw anyone twerk before, or just want to enjoy watching a girl do her thing, check out this video below from this wonderful twerk team:

For those of you who want to try twerking, here are our 5 songs we recommend for starting you twerking music collection:
  1. Uncle Luke "I Wanna Rock (Doo Doo Brown)"
  2. Rihanna "Throw It Up"
  3. Busta Rhymes "Make It Clap"
  4. Tyga "Rack City"
  5. Juvenille "Back That A@! Up"
 Hope this helps! Happy twerking!
