Back at W. Curtis Draper Tobacconist

Just spent a wonderful weekend in Washington, DC. Explicitly, this time the visit was because of music. For some years I have been following the work of Tenor Ian Bostridge. He reintroduced me through his singing to the magnificent world of Benjamin Britten and I noticed his affinity for the history and knowledge connected to music pieces, long before learning of his background.

My life in German-speaking areas of Europe and my love for that culture makes me highly receptive to some of the music they have produced. One of their prolific composers being Franz Schubert, I am very familiar with his "Winter Journey" and witnessed Dietrich Fischer-Diskau live in the early 90's in Cologne, Germany. My trip to Washington was to hear Ian Bostridge performing this important piece in the history of Western Music.

Needless to say, before and after there had to be some time for tobacco culture. I am happy to return to this elegant realm for fine-smokers.
