…be in a ‘flix

As we approach the end of the year it’s only natural to look back on 2017 and reflect. And if you’re Netflix share some fun stats about your viewers, well 53 of them anyway…

To the 53 people who've watched A Christmas Prince every day for the past 18 days: Who hurt you?

— Netflix US (@netflix) December 11, 2017

The answer is no one, Netflix. Why must you hate on this beautiful gift that YOU gave the world?

I mean what’s not to love? It’s a classic Christmas tale about an up and coming reporter in NYC, who works in an office building on Michigan Avenue, and finds love with a prince in Aldovia. Tale as old as time…

But I digress. Apparently some people thought this was an inappropriate use of customer data. So, I can only imagine how they felt about this…

Someone in the UK watched 'Bee Movie' 357 times in 2017 https://t.co/yaezVDqKVs pic.twitter.com/S9bpeWwDOD

Probably better than the saint of a parent that sat through “Bee Movie” 357 times.

I don’t mean to downplay the serious creepy factor that lurks around the amount of data that companies like Netflix have on all of us. But it shouldn’t exactly be a surprise that Netflix is keeping track of what you’re watching. How else would they know that you want to watch “Orange is the New Black” next…after literally everything?

Is 53 a really small group to be getting snarky with on Twitter, probably. But I have to believe that those proud 53 are too overcome with the joy of Christmas to be too terribly offended. So, I think the real lesson here is to do you and dream of the day when Netflix (anonymously) calls you out on Twitter. Dream big streamers, dream big.
