Bishops Palace Wedding Reception: The Celebrations

Posted on the 19 June 2017 by Belinda Mccarthy @b_mccarthyphoto

It's time to take a look at one of my favourite wedding venues, in Wells in Somerset. Earlier this year, I photographed a Bishops Palace wedding reception, and the sublime beauty of the wonderful Bishops Palace once again didn't fail to impress me - and the guests certainly enjoyed it, too!

The wedding ceremony had already taken place at the adjacent and glorious Wells Cathedral - you can see the blog about the wedding ceremony here - and it was but a short walk for the bride, groom and their guests to their wedding reception, in what was thankfully wonderful weather for the time of year! Even so, it was a little bit chilly for the guests to spend much time outside, so the majority of the celebrations took place inside the Bishops Palace itself.

The Bishops Palace is a venue I've worked at often before and so know very well. Its gorgeous architecture is unique in the area for wedding venues, and it's particularly suited to winter weddings as it looks incredible by candlelight! The bride and groom, like most of my clients, had just a short list of 'formal' group shots and wished for the vast majority of the day to be captured in documentary style, which is music to my ears. Of course, we carried out a short session of couples' photography too, but they were keen for this to be brief and as informal as possible.

So without further ado, let's take a look at some of my favourite images from this Bishops Palace wedding reception. As you can see, there was plenty of laughter, emotions and even a few tears - just like all good wedding days!
