Blogging Goals For 2019!

Posted on the 12 January 2019 by Rachael Dunne @WhatRachDidNext

When I first started blogging in 2018, I didn’t really have any idea what my niche was or what to blog about. My posts had no real focus, they were just about random rubbish and nobody ever even read them – thank goodness! Now that I’ve been blogging for a year, it’s easy to see which topics have been the most popular and which haven’t done so well. I think I did pretty well last year. But then, I didn’t set myself any blogging goals for 2018. Without setting goals, it’s hard to really see how I measure up to my own standards, never mind anyone else’s!

Also, now that I’m into my second year, I can’t really use the excuse “Oh I don’t really know what I’m doing” *twirls hair, looks cute* So here we go… It’s time to set myself some blogging goals! This post is, of course, for me to hold myself accountable but is also to give you, my gorgeous readers, some idea what to expect from me in 2019.

I’m sure you’ll agree that if you tell your friends you’re going to do something, you’re more likely to act on it. And if you don’t? I’m sure your friends will be on your back in no time saying, “Hey! Weren’t you gonna do….” Well friends, feel free to give me some serious grief if I don’t live up to my promises this year!

In 2019 I Promise My Blog I Will…

  • Blog more regularly… weekly if I can
  • Plan a social media schedule and make better use of Hootsuite
  • Blog more about travel, events, days and nights out
  • Improve my photography skills. A photography challenge would be great if anyone can recommend one!
  • Share more on Facebook

It’s taken a while for me to get over my fear of social media. The first post I shared on my personal Facebook page was of the time I went to see the Christmas Lights at Dunham Massey. That was in December, I’d been blogging for almost a year by then! I feel stupid for waiting so long and I don’t know why I’d worried so much about it. That post had the best engagement I’ve had of any, all year! Guess where I’ll be sharing my posts from now on?

Again, the posts I’ve had with the most likes and social shares are ones about events rather than stuff. So that’s what I’m going to focus on in future.

Things I Want To Blog About In 2019

  • 5 different UK cities
  • 5 music concerts
  • A different kind of event that’s not music focused
  • A music festival
  • A European city

Of course, Manchester is a fabulous city, I’m so lucky to live here! Expect lots of posts about that. I’ve got a few gig tickets booked already along with tickets for Bluedot Festival – yes again! I’ll try not to get my phone stolen this time so I can actually blog about it for you. I would like to try and get to another festival, hopefully in Europe but nothing’s set in stone yet. Watch this space!

Gadgets I Think Will Help Me Achieve My Goals In 2019

  • A new laptop
  • A proper camera

What are your plans for 2019? Have you set yourself any blogging goals? Or maybe you’re not a blogger, have you set yourself any career goals, personal goals or travel goals even? If so, what are you most looking forward to? Please leave your comments below, I’d love to hear from you!
