Borrowed Inspiration for Your Week: A Finally Finished Piece and Motivation to Start Reading The Song of Ice and Fire Series (aka Game of Thrones)

Good Monday Morning bloggers! Hope you all have ambitious plans for the week (after all, that’s the only way to start, you can give up on Wednesday).  I’m enjoying a rare morning off, drinking coffee, blogging, and watching episode three of Downton Abbey.  I have some very exciting news to share with all first off.

I finally finished the Star Trek stitchy project!

IMG_0312Here’s a close up of The final section with Captain Picard and his ship.  It turned out alright, but it still bothers me how pixelated everything looks in this pattern.  I have a feeling the site selling this patterns does nothing more than feed them through a computer-chart generator rather than actually design the pattern specifically for stitching.  Then again, we can’t all be HAED.  I guess I’m just spoiled.

IMG_0313Here’s the finished design before I finished off the edges (to see the design with the finished edges you’ll have to go to the gallery).  Altogether it looks pretty good.  I am pleased with it now that it’s finished but I do think it could have been a lot better.

I have decided on the “LEO” HAED pattern for my next start and once I get my floss in (my stash was in serious need of bulking up anyway) I’ll start in on it.  Hopefully that’ll be sometime this week, I was promised delivery Tuesday or Wednesday, so we’ll see.

Now some inspiration for you!  I found these patterns on Pinterest (click the picture to get to the source and the patterns).  They are bookmarks based on the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series (more commonly known as the books which began the Game of Thrones phenomenon).  I’ve had these books since the summer but haven’t seemed to have time to read them, there’s always something else to read first.  But I thought these were fantastic bookmarks and maybe then I’ll get myself motivated to stop pushing them to the back of my list and pick of the first book.

Hope you enjoy the patterns, I know I’ll be adding them to my stash in hope of one day having enough time to make them.  What are the rest of you stitchers working on this week?  Anything interesting?

Right now I’m currently reading  a reviewer’s copy of “The Digital Sea” and “The Catcher in the Rye”  hopefully be finishing both of those by the end of the week.  But I may just be being a little too ambitious.  I’d also like to say hello to some of my newer followers I think there are about 20 new and fabulous in their own right bloggers since last week so I wanted to say thanks to you all for following!  If you’d like to keep instantly updated on my stitching, reading, and ramblings you can always follow the twitter @xstitchurheart
