We are huge BRIO fans in this house, it really is the type of toy that stands the test of time and can grow with your child in it's entertainment value and complexity offerings. We have been recently taking a look at the BRIO Cargo Railway Deluxe Set which is a perfect set for little train loving fans like my three.

What is in the Box

This wonderful set comes with it's own storage tub which straight away gets it bonus points from me. Inside the box will find 54 pieces including tracks, trains and accessories.

The list of pieces included are:
2 x Static cranes
1 x Mobile crane
1 x Suspension bridge
7 x Rocky track supports
5 x Pieces of straight track
4 x Pieces of short straight track
15 x Pieces of short curved track
3 x Pieces of switching track
2 x Pieces of ascending track
2 x Freight engines
3 x Cargo wagons
2 x Cargo containers
2 x Cargo loads
1 x Truck
1 x Gas tank load
1 x End stop buffer

So pretty much everything a budding train enthusiast needs to build their very own freight and cargo world in a box.

Our Verdict

This set has been a hit from the very start with Ben (7) and twins Zoey and Zachary (3). The track pieces, with a mix of straight, curved, switching and ascending tracks, are brilliant as it means you can build a really interesting track, especially as it also includes a suspension bridge and large rocky track supports which not only look great but add extra fun as the trains zoom up and around. Ben is definitely the king of track construction and impressively puts them together with help from the twins every time.
The best thing about this set, according to Zachary, are the cranes. He has been known to sit for ages, deep in concentration, operating the cranes, loading and unloading cargo and setting the engines off around the track. I should mention that Zachary rarely sits stills which emphasises just how good the set is.

There is so much to like about the Brio Cargo Railway Deluxe Set, the fact there is both a battery and manual train is great as it adds nice variety to it. Zoey loves the motorised one and always makes a beeline for it, while Zachary loves manually driving the other engine about, making impressive train noises as he does.
The tub that the set comes in is worth a mention, it is great for storage but I would say, don't expect your little ones to be able to put everything back in as it requires some clever packing to fit it all. It is strong and durable and once you have figured out how to get everything is back in once, you will know for future times.  Brio Cargo Railway Deluxe Set Review
The quality of all the pieces is excellent, as you would expect from BRIO. The set is compatible with other BRIO and wooden train sets so can be expanded and grow with your kids. BRIO, in my opinion is a very special toy, I love the thought that my kids can one day watch their kids play with these sets.

Where to Buy

The Brio Cargo Railway Deluxe Set is available to buy online directly from BRIO and has a RRP £109.99 and is suitable for 3+ years. It is definitely one to check out if you are looking for Christmas gift ideas for your little train enthusiasts.
