Chocolate and Champagne Wedding Reception

Posted on the 07 December 2012 by Joyweesemoll @joyweesemoll

Today is our 21st wedding anniversary. We had a Christmas-themed wedding, so I’m plotting a post about that for my stop on the Virtual Advent Tour, December 15. Today, I thought I’d give a sneak preview with some photos of the food at our reception for Weekend Cooking.

The wedding was in the evening, so we hosted a champagne and dessert reception featuring our favorite food — chocolate!

The pyramid of pastries on the right is croquembouche, a French dessert traditionally served at weddings. Ours was drizzled with chocolate.

Strawberries and chocolate fondue

The hit of the night, especially with the children, was the strawberries and chocolate fondue. Here, my mother-in-law is helping her grandchildren, Rick’s oldest nephew and niece — our ring bearer and flower girl.

Also on that table are Queen of Sheba (a chocolate almond cake) petit fours,  miniature white chocolate cheesecakes with chocolate glaze, miniature chocolate framboise (raspberry) cheesecakes, Angel Clouds lemon mousse, double heart cookies, miniature fruitcakes, nuts, and mints. The guest favors were silver and green-wrapped “kisses” made by the caterers.

I didn’t remember all this, by the way. I found the list in my memory book.

I do remember that champagne goes really well with chocolate.

We were out last night for a Christmas party, so tonight’s plan is a quiet supper at home and Love Actually on DVD. We’ll go out to eat to celebrate our anniversary some time in the next week or so — I like extended celebrations!

Weekend Cooking is hosted by Beth Fish Reads each weekend. Visit the post tomorrow for links to cooking and food posts around the web.

Edited to add: I just got published on Huff/Post 50! And it’s slightly related to this topic: A Librarian’s Tips For Healthy Holiday Parties. Please click, comment, and share because I’d love it if they invited me back!
