Cholecystectomy. Name of the Game Is: I WIN!

Posted on the 08 March 2012 by Thehouseofhuff @Houseofhuff

Yesterday was finally the BIG day.  Two surgeries in one.  I had my sickly, trouble making gallbladder removed and also my endometriosis burned off.  Sounds awesome, eh?

In the waiting room before mommy goes back to get started.

Both the general surgeon and my OB had estimated 45 minutes for each of their parts of the surgery. Approximately 1.5 hours isn’t bad!  However, BOTH docs were done in 45 minutes!  Dr. Brown (general surgeon) said all went well and the gallbladder came out easily and Dr. Paul (my OB) said I looked really good and only had a very small spot of endometriosis! YAY!

IV in and ready to go!

Believe it or not, I wasn’t nervous AT ALL.  Not trying to sound cliché or fake, but honestly, I think it was because of how strong my relationship with God has become.  I felt a perfect peace and knew that I was in His hands.  Whatever was going to happen, I was going to be alright!

Yes, I know it was a minor surgery, BUT, I am a nervous nelly and before my last surgery I was so nervous I was literally sick!  This time, I was in there cutting up and laughing with the nurses, doctors and anesthesiologists!

I told the anesthesiologist I only had TWO requests:  Don’t chip any of my teeth (I’ve invested lots of money, time and pain in those things! HA!) and to not let me die! HAHA!

This is the screen in the waiting room that keeps families up to date about the family member in surgery.  And yes, I had Dave taking pictures while I was in surgery for the blog!  Now that’s commitment! HA!

Fell asleep waiting on mommy to get done!

They said it would take approximately 1.5 hours, however, BOTH docs were done in 45 minutes!  Dr. Brown (general surgeon) said all went well and the gallbladder came out easily and Dr. Paul (my OB) said everything looked great and I only had a very small spot of endometriosis! YAY!

Also, since I wasn’t very nervous, I didn’t ask for much Versed, so I pretty much remember everything!  We came home, Poppy and B came to see me and then Meme spent the night with us to help me and help Dave with Mia.  I have the best mom in the whole world.  NO LIE.

I would normally NEVER expose my bare belly on here, but I wanted to document it, so please excuse all of the gas bloat and wrinkles from my ice pack (plus my battle wounds from my baby!) HA!

Today, I’m pretty sore, but have already taken a shower, fixed my hair and put a little makeup on!

Although I know Gods will for my life, I still feel like I control it deep down.  However, He is continually proving me wrong.  Dave's fertility test all came back normal, and essentially, mine have too.  Therefore, there should be NO reason why we can’t get pregnant.  But, MY GOD IS IN CONTROL!  Not me, not my husband, not medicine and not doctors.

I have faith.  I just pray for my peace and total acceptance of His plan, as well as having a gentle spirit and NON jealous heart.

Today, I am thankful.

Today, is a good day :)
