Here comes the epic shit. Like seriously mind-blowing epic :
I had a chance to interview Colin and Justin from Home Heist yesterday.
Pinch me. Pinch me now.
Actually ~ knock me over with a feather. It really was all that and a bag of chips.
Now before you get all jealous of me and want to punch me with green designer super star envy… {{ Like I won the design lottery }}…. I’ll have you know that I was in the throes of a laundry mountain normal life before the miracle phone call happened. That’s right. My life is usually boring and normal. *yawn*
I was literally standing and staring at my laundry pile….strategizing how to chase the bastard squirrels out of my treehouse. Laundry and furry buggers typically rule my world. I am that exciting.
Then the phone called happened. An out-of-this-world design miracle.
Let’s back up the bus. The Colin and Justin bus. I have some ‘xplainin to do. Last year I wrote a blog post about the Toronto Home Show and gushed about Colin and Justin. It’s no secret that they are high on my must-meet-dreamy wish list.
Then it happened.
It was like hitting the design jackpot. Without the pot. Or jack shit. It was a jackpot nonetheless. That was good enough for me. I’ll take any jackpot. With or without the pot.
Tina Holmes offered a gift to me. In case you are wondering who Tina is… she is the gal behind the Toronto Home Show ticket giveaways on the blog. The free tickets that come to you …. come from her. She just loves you like that. You lucky dawg. I know. I know. You lucky schmuck. I think you owe her dinner and a kiss or something.
Here’s the scoop :
Tina had another gift for me (aka YOU) . It did, however, come with a warning.
Tina : Lynne, I have a gift for you.
Me : Tell. Do tell. Spill it. Spill it now.
Tina : I’m not sure if I can tell you. You might pee your pants.
Me : *screaming and jumping around like a dork* oh ….this is going to be good.
Tina : Would you like to interview Colin and Justin ?
Me : Would I ? Would I ? OMG OMG OMG OMG. I’d be all over that like a fat kid on a smarty.
I set the phone down for but a moment and nonchalantly did the freak balls happy dance all over the living room. My excitement, had officially.. hit the roof. My heart just about leapt outta my chest. Where is a paramedic when you need one?
And then it happened…. within the hour… I was on the telephone with two of the most adorable, salt of the earth men that I have ever spoken to.
They were music to my corn dog designer ears.
Music. I swear it on my corn dog heart. Those boys are genuinely awesome.
They didn’t even care when I tripped over my own lips during the interview.
Why, oh why do I love these fellas ?

What did I take away from the interview with Colin and Justin ?
1. They are irresistibly real. Seriously, the real deal of truly being authentic and fun.
2. Have fun and you will love your job. We are only on this earth once. Make it epic fun.
3. Network with others and make friends while keeping it genuine. Have a good time and roll with the punches.
4. We get one life to live. Live it. Make the best of it. You have a long time to be dead.
5. Bad homes happen to good people. LOL.
6. Have an outward focus. Try to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Good things come from that.
7. Canucks know how to rock the cottage life (and now the boyz do too.) They call it cottage chloroform. A cottage night full of stars = lights out by 9 pm. It’s the cottage air. Snooze. Bliss.
Secret to their success : they don’t use a PR company to write their tweets or post to their social media. They write their own words. No ghost writer. No nuttin’. It is really just two guys keeping it real.
