It's here! The perfect date is here! This year, this not too hot, not too cold day happens to coincide with the beginning of the end...or ends(?). So, grab that light jacket and follow me down a slightly less rosy path.
Tonight, the world will witness the end of an era as "Infinity War: End Game" hits the silver screen. Yes, there will be more Marvel movies, but this chapter (11 years in the making) will be ending.
Sadly, this is just the first death knell of 2019. We still have two more tolls to go before the year is up, and it's only going to get harder, nerds.
Next to fall is "Game of Thrones." Come May 19th we'll finally find out who wins (No one) and who falls (everyone). Then our Sunday evenings will be wide open and tragically dragon free.
Of course, the real doozy doesn't arrive until December 20th. After over 40 years, the Skywalker saga will come to an end. The Star Wars story to end all Star Wars stories will have been told to its completion.
In all three cases, the franchises will go on. More stories will be told. Prequels will happen. Spinoffs will...spin. But it won't be the same. These stories, in all their stages, served as benchmarks. They've inspired, distracted, and been a part of our lives. It's understandably sad to see them go.
Now that we've all had a nice existential moment, let's get back to that perfect date. Some stories may end, but ours are still going on. Make it a good one.
