…CorrespondToday marks President Trump’s 100th day in office. It seems fitting that it falls on the same day as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. As you may already know, and probably could have guessed given their relationship, President Trump will not be attending.

While it’s not surprising, given the tension between the administration and the press, it really is a shame. If ever there was a relationship that might benefit from some quality time together away from the office it’s the press and Mr. Trump. Tonight’s dinner would have been awkward, but it also could have helped to humanize both sides.As it is, tonight’s event will be a sad shadow of past dinners, with most of the star power usually in attendance opting for Samantha Bee’s alternative, and aptly named, event — “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”
