Countdown to Cleveland Show

Posted on the 17 March 2011 by Somanycolors
One week from this very minute I'll be in my hotel in Cleveland with my booth set up at the Original Sewing and Quilt Show.
Most of my fabric is dyed but there was one glitch-Wazoodle sent out the wrong fabric. I had ordered their beautiful bamboo/cotton jersey that I've used for some of my scarves. They called the day it was to be delivered apologizing for having sent the wrong fabric, a pure cotton jersey. They suggested that I refuse delivery and sent out the right fabric the same day.
Everyone makes mistakes but I was so impressed that they caught the error before I did and didn't wait to receive the return before sending out the bamboo. Great customer service as well as great fabric.
My shelving has arrived and I've tested out the shelving arrangement-no mallet needed. Think it's going to be a great way to show off my fabric all wrapped up on cardboard as I mentioned in a previous post.
Business cards are on their way. I used to print my own but decided it would be much more cost effective to get them printed.
I also ordered a rubber stamp that I'll use with permanent fabric ink to stamp in my totes:
SoManyColors.netHand Dyed Fashion Fabric
I can use the same stamp for receipts since I decided not to order imprinted sales books just yet. While I plan to use black ink for the totes, I'm going to play with some color mixing for the receipts.
The only thing I'm really behind on is sewing what I'm going to wear and samples to hang in the booth. I'm going to try to be an equal opportunity seamstress and use patterns from as many companies as I can. I have two Burda patterns, (they are one of the show sponsors), a McCalls, a Butterick, a Simplicity, a Jalie, a Kwik Sew and a Hot Patterns. Not in a panic just yet. After all, I still have 6 full days...
