Yesterday, Microsoft gave the world a sneak peek at the next incarnation of Windows (Windows 10 for those keeping score).
The announcement was filled with plenty of exciting news, including the fact that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for anyone running Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1. Cortana is also getting some nifty upgrades, including “voice-summoning” technology.
As great as all that is, one feature in particular stood out of the pack — holograms.
Yes, you read that correctly. We’re talking Star Wars, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi,” holograms.
If you’re wondering what practical uses hologram technology has…then you’re obviously not nerding out enough. Not only can you reenact scenes from Star Wars, but you can also pretend that you’re Tony Stark. And if you don’t know who that is, then I probably lost you back at Obi-Wan.
Anyways, the point is, it’s 2015, we’ve officially made it to the future. Will hologram technology be useful? Well technically it already has, just not in the hands of us mere mortals. But for now, who cares about practicality, it’s a freaking hologram!
