I can feel the butterflies in my chest begin to flutter, the familiar pain of anxiety making its home there. My stomach violently wrenches around, causing nausea to rear its ugly head. My head feels a little too light and everything seems just a little too much. I can feel the familiar numbness settling in my limbs, cutting me off from the surrounding world. I have to remind myself to breathe, in and out, as if I might suddenly forget. A familiar hand places themselves on my shoulder and I finally know that I am not alone. My friends are there.
