Day 23: Her Suffering

Sometimes, it's like running a marathon
After hiking all day
Sometimes, like you've been hit with a metal rod to the head
Repeatedly, and forced to form coherent speech
Sometimes it is like being tied to a stake
Burned alive, by flames, never dying
Sometimes it's like watching her cry
Suffering, and all you can do is put a hand on her shoulder
In silence.
