Dear Future Someone

Dear future someone,
I am writing this to let you know certain things before you think about holding my heart in your hands. Well, I am scared to love as it must be clear since I am writing this. I might say that we should fall in love, love with all that we have but deep down I can never do it. The simple reason behind this is that I have a fear of my heart breaking. As you know we live in a world of broken promises, unspoken words and heartbreaks, hence fear is inevitable. And this fear will make it’s way into our relationship, even if I try not to let that happen.
I know it sounds crazy, but I have trust issues. Not because my exs did something or that my friends betrayed me, but simply because you can’t trust someone enough to hold you through it all. It’s always easy to let go than to hold on and that’s what scares me. We live in a world of letting go and not trying harder, I hope you turn out to be different.
I wish that you are just like me, a hopeless romantic. I might live in the 21st century and surely will have some jealousy issues, but I want a love that goes far beyond this century. I don’t want you to do something great for me, no. I just want you to look into my eyes whenever we meet and never reach a point where you can’t look into my eyes, because I’ll know it’s time to let go and no matter how much I try, you won’t be there anymore.
Most importantly, I want you to prove me that it’s okay to risk it all for you because once I risk my heart, I won’t be left with anything after it breaks and after that I won’t be all sugar and sweet.
So, before you knock my door, know that I am not someone who’ll let you have what you need. If you ever enter my life and decide to leave because you don’t love me anymore, I’ll make sure to make you realize that there’s a side of me, below this niceness, that you never wished to see.
Lovingly,
Your future someone.
