…Do Small Things

…Do Small Things "If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today is MLK Day, which you probably already know because you have the day off or because you didn't get the day off. Either way, here's a friendly reminder what today is actually about.

(Hint: It's not about an extra day off.)

The truth is that today is not just about one thing. It's about a man who did great things to move our country in the right direction. It's about remembering, honoring, and building upon that legacy. We've come a long way since Dr. King, but we still have a ways to go.

There's a danger that comes from only looking at the world through your own experience. We've learned this painfully obvious lesson time and time again throughout history. It's something we should all keep in mind every day, but especially on days like today.

Today, don't take the day off. Take the day to do small things to make the world better for the people around you. Hold the door for someone. Smile at a stranger (not in a creepy way). Be patient with that person who you think is slowing you down, even if you're in a hurry. Most of all, don't assume that their struggle is the same as yours.

Do what you can to help make others days a little brighter, and you might find that your day brightens up too.

...just for fun:
