Does It Matter Where You're From?

Posted on the 26 May 2012 by Sarahkasm @Sarahkasm
Where are you from?
His eyes dart between the questioner
And the one who the answer depends on entirely
Looks aimed to captivate his sympathy
The answer pleads to him, begs him to accept
It just as it is
No bias
No sorry
No apologies
And most importantly
Never the letter N connected to a round figure
That reminds him of the salary he now owns
Where are you from?
The worst part is in knowing
That whatever he says,
He can't modify the blood in his veins
Or his parent's names
Though they had changed it for the very same purposes
Go back to where you came from
Are not the right words to use
With a refugee holding the passport of another country
That will send him to war with a third
Yet everyone wonders why
They board the sinking boats
With so many holes
That it's near impossible to land on the coast of Italy
They think they do it for the Euros.
