Happy Small Business Saturday! After making it through the family festivities of Thanksgiving and the commercialized craziness of Black Friday, it’s time to take things down a notch.
Assuming you haven’t already blown your holiday budget on box store bargains, today is all about supporting the businesses that help build your local community. That means getting out there and either doing a little more retail therapy, or perhaps taking advantage of the calorie-free holiday weekend, and indulging one last time. Even if you can’t make it to the stores today, think of it as an opportunity to see what your local businesses are. You may not be able to make it today, but they’d be just as grateful for your business tomorrow…or the next day.
The juggernaut businesses have their place, and their advantages, but small businesses live or die by their communities. They’re invested in the place they’re founded. If they succeed, so does the local community.
So, in conclusion, enjoy your trappings from the big box stores, but maybe add some personality to your holiday gifts with something a little more local.
