Entering the Blissful, Language Free Zone of the Creative Process

Posted on the 05 November 2012 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

Collaging wordsI sat at my dining room table with some of my treasures from goodwill and a bottle of mod podge in front of me. I told myself I would “only do a little” but with every bit of paper I added to my now very colorful one-time-tray now a work of art, I couldn’t bear to stop myself.

It was getting so pretty and even though my hands were getting stickier by the moment, the thought of moving to my next activity quickly left my thinking mind.

There is something visceral that happens when I allow myself the space to enter what I call “The Language Free Zone.”  It is as if creating this space for silent, meditative creativity allows a doorway to the divine to enter.

A portal opens and in that loving space flows answers to long held questions or inklings of what before had been completely off the radar.

Yesterday I tumbled head long into this space and a brand new business idea – or rather, a new way to stretch myself as a personal development/creative life coach entrepreneur made its way into my consciousness.

The idea isn’t ready to be shown yet, but oh, am I ever excited.

I know she wouldn’t have knocked so readily if I hadn’t created a safe zone, without language to cut her down quickly, without language to build a pro and con list, without language to second guess or block her completely by talking to someone else or allowing something else to wrap blinders over my ears and eyes rather than space to let the unseen become visible.

Today I will finish that project.

In fact, after this next bit of writing, I will be possessed by it again.

There isn’t much longer until I fall back into my beloved language free zone. I can hardly wait.
