Family

Family.  It's what makes the world go 'round. At least for me.    I have been thinking a lot about my family. My niece is turning 1 in May, and I have to say it's a little sad to think that I may not be able to see her at that time, or soon after. My idea of family is togetherness, and being present in life's big moments. I never thought that we would all be living in different states, especially this early in my adult life. My sister and I were not very close growing up, mainly because we fought all of the time, but as we've gotten to be adults, I know that I took a lot of our family time together for granted. Now, I have that little nugget above on my mind all of the time. She's a piece of me, and its hard to be away from her. It's been difficult on my parents too. See, my brother in law is a Marine, which means he's stationed wherever the Marines tell him to go. That also means that we see them less than what we'd like to. If I had it my way we'd all seriously live on the same street and see each other everyday. We are there for each other and support each other. I see how different families interact since being married and being a counseling major. I know that I am utterly blessed for the family relationships we all have.    Hopefully, we can all see each other again soon. Until then I will be crying over photos of my niece on my iPhone. Don't mind me.
