Family Days out with English Heritage

With the summer holidays in full swing, we're doing our best to ensure the kids are not only entertained this summer, but that we create some special family memories. Whilst I have spent some days up to my elbows in cuddly toys, picking play doh out of the carpet and trying to resist saying "no" over and over again, we have had some lovely days out to date and more up coming on the calendar.

On Sunday we planned a family day out to Framlingham Castle, you will remember that we visited Framlingham earlier in the year and had always planned to head back and explore the castle as I knew the kids would love it. I remember going there as a kid with my family (and once with my school) and it always filled me with wonder.

Framingham Castle is certainly an impressive site, the upbeat song by Ed Sheeran Castle on the Hill is based on this very castle, so if you're a fan of Ed its worth a visit to see where he got his inspiration from. What I love about the castle is that you can quite clearly see its history, how the castle developed over time. Our eldest was full of questions and I loved seeing her so inquisitive about the history of the castle.  For my little man of few words, we got "wow, castle" lots - I'm taking that as the Henry seal of approval.

What I love about English Heritage is that they are obviously passionate about preserving our history but also that everyone who is visiting has the best experience also. It's perfect for families, very relaxed and it's the perfect place for children to make their own reenactments of history.
I love the new addition of the Cafe, beautiful food in an even more beautiful setting. We also loved the temporary slide, to which we went down far too many times to count! Even my littlest loved it!

To enjoy this countries history I would definitely recommend buy a family year pass for £96 giving you access to 400 historic places! That would cover a year's worth of family days out for the price of one!

We're excited to explore more English Heritage sites.
