Favorite Gifts

Posted on the 07 December 2012 by Missliabilities
Here's a list of some of my favorite received gifts (birthday and Christmas) from the past three years. It is not very difficult to buy me gifts because I have an Amazon wishlist that is updated throughout the year whenever I think of something that might be useful in my life. How funny that 4 out of 5 of my favorite gifts were never on my wishlist!Favorite GiftsA Victoria's Secret fluffy robe from my sister. She knows if it's a vibrant color, girly, and something I can lounge around in - it's perfect for me. This gift is going on three or four years now and I wear it every single day. How many gifts can you say that about? The pockets are being to wear out and it's not as fluffy as it once was - but I think I can get another few years out of the old girl. This can be a great gift for a college student (where I got the most use out of it) or a teenager who loves bubble baths or reading in pajamas on weekends.
Favorite GiftsMy boyfriend, though I adore him, is a wretched gift giver. It was hard to fake enthusiasm for his first attempts at gifts. For my birthday we had been together for three months and he got me a pink XS hoodie that had AEROPOSTALE on the front. Should I begin with the issue of the size or the issue of the free advertising I'm giving the store? He has gotten slightly better after three years of dating now that we avoid clothing and jewelry. For my birthday this year he got me a Kindle. YES!!!! It's not only great for our long vacation flights but easy to take to the beach and sit with on our couch. I take it on the transit with me every morning too.
Favorite GiftsMy mom lives in Dallas, Texas and they frequently have Christmas craft shows come through her area. She bought me a gingerbread wreath at one similar to the one pictured and I adore it. Since I now have to decorate my own house I'm starting to develop my own Christmas preferences and I have started collecting gingerbreadmen - they are freaking adorable! This is hanging on our bedroom door right now and is the most Christmas-y thing we have in our house.
Favorite GiftsThis Things Remembered locket was a gift from five years ago from my ex. I absolutely adored it even after the demise of our relationship. One day as I was washing my face the chain broke and the locket slipped down the sink never to be seen again. It could still be lodged somewhere in those pipes, but truthfully I think it would break my heart to see it rusted over - best to let sleeping dogs lie. If you're looking for something classy but still sentimental - go with a personalized locket!Favorite GiftsMy dad bought a Guess shoulder bag similar to this for me last Christmas from Zappos (a great wishlist site!). It was perfect for a laptop, but I used it mostly to lug my bulky CPA books to and from the library. This will be great for grad school notebooks next year too! For the student or CPA wannabe in your life that wants to veer away from backpacks - get a studious looking shoulder bag.
The truth is though these gifts are amazing, I'd really like the gift of time with my family members that are far from me. I miss my siblings and parents in Texas and my stepmom in North Carolina all the time, but I am thankful I can see them at least once a year even if it's not around Christmas. <3
