FestEVOL

I don’t expect to surprise anyone by this, but there is no more snow anywhere. It is gone. We tried to have an end of the year ceremony on Okemo Mountain this weekend and instead of skiing, most everyone stood around in mud.

A couple people braved the trails with old equipment and goofy outfits! This is one of my athletes making the best out of the situation. [note: standing in mud with skis on is not suggested]

We gave out great awards and recognized some athletes who excelled this season.

When I got home I laced up my sneaks and went out for a run because I knew the night was going to be full of fun activities!

photo (44)I had a nice long, easy run. I feel like I am finally getting my stride back and my knees are feeling healthy. I am slowly going to try to increase my mileage and runs. However, I am going to do it carefully because I do not want to be set back by any injury’s.

Since this past weekend marked the end of the ski season, Okemo celebrated with FestEvol, a music and winter sports festival, and we took full advantage! The event is sponsored in part by EvolFoods [hence FestEvol] but Stonyfield, Ben & Jerry’s, Rustic Crust(ie: American Flatbread pizza), and Nordica were all sponsors as well. All these companies had tents and were giving away samples. Ben & Jerry’s had samples of their new Greek frozen yogurt flavors, I couldn’t try them [I’m Vegan for one more week], but everyone loved them, especially the Peanut Butter Banana. Even Vinnie liked it and he never likes stuff like that!

The main event was the music! Barenaked Ladies were the main event on Saturday and Guster played on Sunday. We only went to the Saturday show (although I would of loved to see Guster) because we had to get home to NH.

The concert started at 3:30, Barenaked Ladies, went on around 5 so we got there early and tailgated. Summertime in March! Gotta love it!
