In honor of the eve of the Cardinal’s first postseason game of 2015 and National Poetry Day, I present, a poem:
‘Twas the night before baseball, and across Cardinal Nation
Card’s fans were facing a new situation.
Of all the opponents, the big and the small,
the Cubbies had made it to postseason ball.
Yes those cursed Cubbies, known the world over,
Had finally, once again, played ’til October.
Will the underdog Cubs finally have their day?
Will Back to the Future (Part II), be right?
Or will the added pressure just get in the way?
Not much to do now, but dream and wait,
On postseason magic, be it talent (or fate).
Whatever the outcome, whatever the reason,
As Cub fans know well, there’s always next season…
