Finding the Light Within

Posted on the 13 March 2015 by Vidyasury @vidyasury

Some days can be so frustrating. Everything that can go wrong, will. Murphy's Law - remember?

The power fails
The batteries can't charge
The phone doesn't work
The taps leak
The day won't go as planned
Life comes to a standstill.

Truth is, life really does not come to a standstill.

The earth continues to spin on its axis and around the sun.

Things happen. Unexpected things.

Like the computer crashing in the middle of a big project with a deadline.
Hours spent salvaging data and backing up.
Phone call with shocking news about a dear friend's death
An email begging for a shoulder
Profile disappearing on a work site taking active assignments with it
Waking up with a headache that won't go away for three straight days.

Oh yes, the world goes on.

How to handle it?

Panic is not an option, because it only sucks away more energy, precious energy that is required for more productive tasks.

Finding the Light Within

What I did was take the extra step.

I won't say I didn't panic, because I did, for a few moments.

Then I had a cup of strong coffee.

As the liquid heaven entered my system for the fourth time that day, I decided to see the silver lining.

I decided to make the most of it.

I decided to step away from darkness to light.

In spite of the power cuts.

Because "bright" is in my mind.

I changed my focus.

To finding the light within.

I decided to take the learning from my situation and ditch the rest.

I realized, as I set about sorting things out, that we often hide from accepting things as they are.

We dwell so much on the negative that we waste a lot of time and energy on it, rather than try to come out of it.

We don't acknowledge our feelings. How can we deal with them if we don't?

I know it isn't always easy.

What I've learned is to be patient and find the funny side.

For one thing laughter dissipates some of the tension. Also, it lets out that pent up frustration. And when we look, it isn't difficult to find the bright spots. The next thing is to move on, because it will be a long while before someone discovers how to turn the clock back and reverse the situation.

And that's what I do.

Move on.
