Food for the Soul

Posted on the 12 November 2013 by Leah-Jlynn @Leah_Jamielynn

When, I read today’s prompt: Food for the Soul and Stomach. With out hesitation, I thought of roman noodle soup, top with avocados, that melts in your mouth.  I also added, black and crushed pepper, for a bit of a tasty kick. As well as, a squeeze of lemon for zest.

Along with the prompt, it just happens to be perfectly chilly day, today. Which, always, makes me think of this soup. That seems , to invoke memories. Memories, of my first apartment. My, first car, while in my apartment. It was than, I had  become creative with making my noodles into meals. Because, it was all I could afford to eat, back than.  Nor, did I know, how to cook.

But,  pair the soup with cool weather and It’s becomes, a bowl of comfort and memories  As, I also remember, being really sick. When, a struggling neighbor  and a friend, knocked on my door with a bowl of the good stuff. It had egg whites ( add, 1 egg white, on top of noodles after the waters boiled or before, recovering the noodles to cook.) and pepper on top of the noodles.

Though, I still, didn’t feel very well, the soup was testy with the added egg. Which, by the way, I  had never had it like that before. But, I now. I add them  along with veggies and fresh shrimp. Whenever, the season, or the mood calls for it.

And, that day is today, As my soul is filled by joyful thoughts of a thoughtful friend , independence, the first meal I cooked for a boyfriend and etc. As, I write this post I’m enjoying, the slight chill in the air. As well as , the warmth of a soft blanket across my pajama’d legs. while, I stop periodically for a, spoonful of happiness.

To see what also fills my soul, please read Live 1 Café

Have a blessed day full of happy memories. If you don’t have any yet, create some staring now! ~Amen

I will be sharing this at BlogHer for NaBloPoMo  as well as here: at the Daily Post on  Wordpress Because, both prompts dealt with food `Yum :)
