Happy last day of spring, crusaders! With summer officially ahead of us it’s time to start diving head first into the joys of the season.
Here at the crusade, the Summer of Blockbusters may have started a few weeks ago, but as we embark on this new season, I wanted to take a moment for the movies beyond the big screen. Yes, this What to Watch Wednesday, I have the Netflix original movie you never knew you needed…
The premise of “Set It Up” is simple, the outcome predictable, and that is exactly what makes it so wonderful. In this season of over the top effects, fight sequences, dinosaurs, and even more superheroes, I can’t tell you how nice it was to sit down and watch a straight-forward, well-done romantic comedy.
Because sometimes you’re not looking for superheroes or dinosaurs or more superheroes. Sometimes all you want is a simple meet cute mixed with Kimmy Schmidt’s Titus being creepy (and awesome)…
Because there are not enough movies out there that take the time for the details, like realistic ways to carry a pizza up a fire escape…
Which is just one reason why we need more women in filmmaking (yes, this movie was both written and directed by women)…
Also, I need to know what evil genius first thought of this life hack…
Seriously, food goals…
Not to mention, the world can always use more Lucy Liu being fierce…
So, while I, of course, encourage everyone to get out to their local cinemas and see a movie this summer, if you’re going to (and you are at some point) just stay in and watch Netflix, add this gem of a movie to your queue…
