As you make your way through your weekend, odds are you’ve accumulated a bit of baggage of the plastic variety. While most of us know that these bags are bad for the environment, the fact is, they’re convenient.
Soon, that won’t be the case for Californians, thanks to a bill passed last month. Which means that soon, this staple of the American errand could be a thing of the past.
Before you start stocking up in hopes that you’ll one day be able to sell your collection of Target or Walmart trash bags for millions, you should know that California’s new law is not eliminating plastic bags. However, they are going to make you pay for them.
Ten cents is how much you’ll have to cough up for the privilege of carrying your groceries in a plastic bag. Which doesn’t sound awful, until you consider how much it costs to make them.
While it may be a good thing for the environment, it will also lead to the extinction of one of life’s great questions — paper or plastic?
