During my trip to Ranchi last year, I visited the Hundru Falls (yes, post coming up). On the way back from the gorgeous waterfalls after a lovely morning, I saw a some interesting sights. Of course I'd stop to look each time, and my friend would look exasperated and urge me on.
Half way to the main entrance, a movement caught my eye, followed by laughter.
Naturally I had to stop to investigate, and this delightful sight met my eye.
Two little girls, in a clearing among the trees, busy making flowers. Aren't they pretty?
I had to get a closer look, so walked across to the clearing.
I was fascinated to see them at work. They were enjoying themselves. Chatting, joking.
Yet working with so much focus.
And their handiwork, so beautiful.
They were making these flowers with leaves, carving wood for the stand and stalks.

How deftly her fingers worked to create this beautiful piece!
When I asked the girl if she'd make one for me, she said "no".
Look at her!
Amused, I asked her what she would do with the "bouquets" they made. She answered that it was for her school.
Why weren't they at school? They said it was a half day, as it was Saturday. I noticed their school uniform was familiar and realized they studied at the local Kendriya Vidyalaya.
How lovely!

What I loved was the girls' expressions, their beautiful eyes. Their confidence.
I did ask her again if she would sell me one bouquet, but she was quite firm with her No. Something to learn, right there!
Talk about Girl Power!
Near the waterfalls, there were a few shops that sold roughly carved wood in various forms and shapes, unique to the area. I'll show you those photos next Sunday!
