Give Me Black #WhatTheBlack

Black is among my preferred colors. You’ll often see me dressed in black. Besides that fact that I’ve got a stack of at least 20 black t-shirts giving people the impression that I live in the same t-shirt and jeans of varying shades, truth is – I love black. Only I, my family and perhaps my neighbors know that I wash them after every use. I do. And then I lovingly fold them and place them in my shelf.

But it is not just clothes. When I see something I want to buy available in black, my choice is made. Could it be because I am colorblind and feel safer with black which is a definite color? I don’t know. I have black mugs, black cushion covers, black utensils….why even my scooters have always been black.

So picking five black things on my wishlist was not hard. After all, we never stop wanting things, do we?

Here are 5 black things I desire from my heart

Black clouds

I want black clouds over my hometown as there is a drought there right now. I want black clouds so that the farmers who feed us don’t go hungry. Black clouds will mean rain. Rain will mean happy fields. Happy fields will mean flourishing crops and flourishing crops will mean a well-fed nation and prosperous farmers. They work hard. They deserve it.

Finances in the black

I always want my finances in the black so I can continue to do my charity work. Any income from my blog and my writing work is dedicated to charity. I work hard at blogging and love it because I am doing what I love and each time it earns money, I am excited because it means a better life for the girls at my local welfare home and other children from other welfare homes whose education I support.

Black Chalkboard wall

Ever since I saw a black chalkboard wall on a DIY website, I have coveted one. Or two. I would love to have two black chalkboard walls so my son and I can draw on them, write on them, and generally get creative. I’d write on them and take pictures and not worry about storing them properly. I can wipe them clean. I can jot down recipes as I see them on TV. Talk about being environmentally friendly! Yep, I’d love enough black chalkboard acrylic paint to give two of my walls a makeover!

Black Coffee

Oh yes. Coffee fuels me. And thank heavens I am allowed to drink it! I get the raw coffee beans and roast them until they’re black and shiny. Then I grind them to a specific consistency and store them in an airtight jar to lock in the flavor and fragrance that kickstart my day and make it fabulous. Each morning, I fill my filter with the aromatic powder and percolate my black coffee. Then I pour it into my favorite glass and enjoy it, sip by sip. With each sip, I feel the beloved black liquid coat my throat on its way onward, warming me, warming my heart, soothing, as if to assure me my day will be just great. And it is.

Mom’s beautiful black eyes

I saved the best for last. I yearn for my Mom’s beautiful jet black eyes looking at me again with love and pride. I recall her encouragement through her smiling black eyes, her compassionate black eyes when I struggled over something, knowing I would overcome it, her chiding black eyes when I did something silly and her laughing black eyes, always ready to see the humor in every situation.vidya sury what the black

These then, are the five black things I want.

Oh yes, I covet that beautiful black iPad, too.
