Day 8 of the Summer Games finds Team USA facing yet another record…probably…
Although you’ll hear it reported that the U.S. team is approaching its 1,000th gold medal, but the fact of the matter is, they’re not quite sure which one will be the 1,000th medal. Literally.
I don’t mean they’re not sure which event or sport, I mean, a few times along the way, the people who count such things lost count. The discrepancy is minor (single digits), but one thing is clear: History is not always an exact science, sometimes it’s a matter of opinion.
Regardless of which gold medal count you subscribe to, it’s likely this incredible team will crush it in the next few days. And that is something to be proud of, even if it is from our respective couches.
