Well, it’s here, the day we knew would come, but secretly hoped would take a bit longer. Today, the 2014 FIFA World Cup comes to an end.
Tomorrow (or possibly Tuesday, depending on your level of enthusiasm) we’ll all return to our normal, non-soccer-fan lives, but today we pick a side, and enjoy the rest of the ride.
The key to enjoying any competition is having a vested interest in one of the sides. Which means, unless you’re a born and raised Argentine or German fan, you have to pick a side, and stick with it.
We know all you bleeding hearts will be tempted to root for the first team to fall behind. Don’t do it. That was fine in the rounds leading up to this final match, but now that we’ve made it to the final, loyalty (no matter how temporary) is required.
With that spirit in mind, we give you 2WC’s favorite for the 2014 FIFA World Cup…
GERMANY
While we love a good upset, we can’t help but root for our roots. So Germany (or Deutschland, as half of our ancestors would say), you officially have the 2WC bump…and the favored odds….
