Happy Anniversary, #614

Posted on the 05 March 2013 by Juliezaz1 @juliezaz1

A funny thing happens when you get married.  While you’re dating, you celebrate your anniversaries on the night that you had your first date.  There are romantic dinners and gifts, and it’s a pretty big deal.  When you get married, however, the anniversary of your first date goes by the wayside.  Now you celebrate an anniversary to remember your wedding day.

March 5th is my first date anniversary.  Twelve years ago today, my husband took me out to the Nawab of India restaurant on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica, CA.  You could say that the rest is history.  After that first date, I never went out with anyone else again.  Done.  Sealed deal.  I was in love.  We were married 2-1/2 years after that first date.

I have to remind him about March 5th as it comes along every year.  This is a day that is forgotten for most people.  First date anniversaries just aren’t as significant once you’re married.  It is significant to me, however.  I remember everything about that night…..what I was wearing, how my heart was pounding with nerves as I was waiting for him to pick me up (I really liked him!), that he opened every door for me and that he was so easy to talk to.  That night was the first night of the rest of my life.  How could it not be significant?

So, I am smiling today as I am thinking back to twelve years ago, and I found such a great song to go along with it!  Little River Band has a “Happy Anniversary” song I had never heard of.  My hubby is a lover of 70′s rock though, so I can’t wait until he wakes up to see if he knows this song.  It just sounds like him.  So, click HERE to go to Youtube to see The Little River Band performing their “Happy Anniversary” song live.  As the Little River Band sings in the song, “Happy Anniversary, baby.  I’ve got you on my mind.”
