One where you need to be
surrounded with love.
But I am the lucky one here,
who gets to spend
this day with you.
If I could get the world for you,
I would.
But right now, I dedicate this poem
to you, which expresses
what I feel for you.
But you already know that, don’t you?
Patience is your strength,
From teaching me to cook
to eating my burnt food.
Rarely did you complain.
Lovingly, you care for me, even on days,
when my anger speaks aloud.
The warmth of your touch,
your protective being,
the hundred-dollar smile.
There is nothing I would exchange it for.
You are mine and
I am yours.
My darling husband,
Birthdays will come and
birthdays will go.
But with each passing year,
our love will only grow.
And that is one promise I gift to you.
