I discovered Grace Kelly in the early 80's in Mexico when I devoured every single issue of Vogue from both the 50's and 60's.
As an impressionable teenager, I was smitten by her style and beauty. Her rags to riches story and storybook wedding to Prince Rainier III of Monaco inspired many of my young girl fantasies.
I adored and emulated her by wearing Keds with long skirts, shopping for pearls, and obsessively looking for any of her films while in High School.
While in college I looked for pins and brooches that might adorn a scarf or suit, shopped for vintage outfits (that never fit my 5'10" frame!), and started collecting Grace Kelly VHS movies, High Society being one of my favorites.
When I married, I choose a scene in that very same movie as inspiration for my Wedding reception and florals.
I still wear my pearls thinking of Grace Kelly and can only hope to emulate her "grace."
She is, and will always be, my muse, inspiration and my Princess of "Monaco." (wink-wink)
