Hate Cleaning? Easy Tips to Help Make Your Life Easier…

Posted on the 12 November 2012 by Redneckprincess @RdNeckPrincess

Ok, so you all know, that I am a Pinterest addict and I have OCD right? Well that is working to your benefit today folks, because I am going to share with you some of the most fantastically easy ideas you have ever seen, and you probably have everything in your house right now…

Ok, lets get started shall we?

As you probably know by now if you have come here for long, The Castle is an old house…unfortunately so are most of my appliances…mostly my stove. I have a self cleaning oven that, well…doesn’t.

The problem I have is that I can’t see through the grungy old window, this sucks. Especially when you are making things that don’t allow you to open the oven, like Yorkshire puddings…

I found this super easy solution and tried it tonight, it worked so well on the first window and door, that tomorrow we are taking the door off, taking it apart and doing BOTH windows!!! I know right??? It will be like new, seriously.

And the amazing cleaning products are…

Baking soda and a scrubbie…and a touch of water to paste it up a little. For real.

All you do is take the baking soda, add a wee bit of water to make a paste, spread it on the oven door and then walk away for about 15 minutes.

Now my door was super freaking nasty, like I said my stove is old, but the results amazed me.

The next problem I have, is my dogs. They are brats, especially the little one, he has been a nightmare peeing in my house for all of time, sometimes because he is ignored by his best friend Colton and sometimes just in spite, regardless of what it is, he has a spot in the family room where if not watched he will pee. His is pretty cute though right?

Now not only is this a nightmare just because it means I have to clean up freaking pee, but then Bailey, the big dog…decided she wanted to try out the new spot. Not amused.

I tried a recipe of Listerine and water, and then you put newspaper over the spot to absorb the odor. DO NOT TRY THIS, it doesn’t freaking work, and now your basement will smell like CAT piss instead. It was disgusting.

So I have been madly trying to find a way to neutralize the smell and clean the carpet. Here is what I came up with.

I boil a kettle full of water, pour it on the pee spot and use an old towel to blot up what you can, throw this in the wash immediately, it’s disgusting too, nothing about this job isn’t…then, boil your kettle, taking the boiling water and mixing it in a juice pitcher 50/50 with everyday vinegar.

Pour the mixture onto the spot and blot it up again with a new rag…throw this rag in the washing machine too. Now your house will smell like vinegar until it dries, but really… isn’t that better than pee?

Trust me it is.

The next day the odor will be mostly gone. When the spot is dry you can take a bit of your trusty baking soda and sprinkle it on the spot, leave it there for a few hours and then vacuum it up (make sure the spot is dry when you are vacuuming though!!)

Now that pesky and stinky load of laundry you have will need to be washed right? Well here I am, being a goof in a video teaching you how to make your own laundry soap. This is seriously easy, and will save you hundreds of dollars. No lie…

Well that should keep you all out of trouble for a couple of days,  I will do another post on some of the other fantastic stuff I find on a regular basis soon…till then, happy cleaning!!!
