1.
i know what it feels like
to feel lost
to feel alone
to feel afraid.
a small child
left alone in the night,
creaks from corners of an old house,
and no one nearby
to calm
to soothe
to gentle
the unknown places
within and without
you.
2.
it is time to remind
that child
that she is not alone,
that he is not alone,
that you are here
now.
and that you will not
abandon them
again.
soothe the child.
place one hand on your heart.
peace.
place the other hand on your belly.
be still.
3.
tell her
tell him
I am here.
and in this moment
let the quietness
surround you.
let it fill you inside.
and hold the child
with a rose-pink light
of love.
hold yourself,
and tell yourself
in your mind,
or aloud,
i love you.
i'm sorry.
please forgive me.
thank you.
i love you.
i love you.
i love you.
i love you.
4.
then sit quietly,
still holding one hand
on heart,
the other
on your belly.
be still.
breathe.
breathe.
breathe.
and remind yourself
that you will be true,
be faithful
to yourself,
to that child,
and she,
or he
will have
what they always
needed,
your absolute,
complete,
loving
adoration.
they will know
now,
if never before,
that they are
truly loved.
and that will
be the balm
that quiets
the fears,
and wild imaginings,
the boogeymen,
and sounds that come from nowhere.
You soothe the child
and they know
peace.
they know
strength.
they know
courage.
they know
love.
breathe.
rest.
be.
here.
5.
sit still in this place of love
always.
