You pick up the Sunday Paper, and on the front page you catch a glimpse of a tragic story. It's a picture of a little boy with his sister and mother. The little boy has no hair, and automatically you feel sympathy for him. The headline reads "------ township PTA holds Fundraiser for Tragedy Stricken 3 yr old" You read on. Jonathan was diagnosed with Leukemia at 16 months old and is going thru his second round of Chemotherapy. Jonathan's mother lost her job because she had to take so many days off to be at her sons side, and Jonathan's father was killed in combat in the Iraqi War.
If this story touched you, then chances are you wanted to help this child and his family.
But your wallet is empty, you bank account can barely cover the bills... What can you do?
Well, here is how you can help this little boy!
Donate Blood, Donate Bone Marrow. Two things that you have readily available to use, two things that you will not miss. Two things that could save the life of a 3 year old boy.
Convince 5 of your friends to do the same! That's 6 chances to save a life and it costs you nothing. It's also 6 chances to save the life of another.
With hard economical times it's hard for people to help a neighbor out but with these simple duties you can.
Which brings me to my next topic.
Organ Donation.
When you go down to renew your license they ask you "Do you want to be an Organ Donor?" 8 words that could change the live of many people. Why not say yes?! After your death you will not need your organs. They will be taken from your body and disposed of, you do not get to take them with you. So why not give them to someone who could use them.
You have two Kidneys that could give life back to two patients on dialysis.
Two lungs that could help the 17 year old girl born without one.
A heart to make one persons life go on, when yours could not.
Two eyes that could give a blind baby the gift of sight.
Even if you have a disease you can still donate your body to a science institute to help find a cure to save the life of many others tat were not lucky enough to have had their illness investigated and researched.
And all this is not only free, but is as simple as saying "yes, I would"
I am not trying to change your mind if you have reasons to believe differently. But I believe that when we have the chance to help we should.
It's something to consider.
