I love weddings where we get to photograph the bride and the groom's preparation, and at this Higher Eggbeer wedding day near Okehampton, Devon, everyone was getting ready at the same location - so it was easy!
There's always such a sense of excitement and anticipation during the bridal prep (and often some other emotions, too, which range from stress to anxiety to tears!). It makes for a hugely exciting time to document, as there is always so much going on. Of course, as a wedding photographer you need to be on the ball to be able to capture as much of it as possible - without getting in anyone's way, of course!
This lovely Devon wedding day at Higher Eggbeer Farm was definitely a hive of activity well before we even arrived. The wedding ceremony was being held in church some 20 minutes away before returning to Higher Eggbeer for the wedding reception, so there was certainly an onus on people to get organised and get to the church on time!
Although I've photographed many weddings in Devon prevoiusly, this was my first time at Higher Eggbeer, and what a treat it was. This is a truly amazing wedding venue, and you'll get to see more of what it has to offer in future blogs on this wedding, when we return to look at the celebrations after the wedding ceremony!
